  itinerary & some notes:

Day One:
Fly to SJO San Jose, Costa Rica
-- Picked up by Oscar from El Cafetal Inn, US$25
Check in Cafetal Room, US$85/night, and meet the coffee plantation owners
-- Lunch next door
Tour Los Chorros Waterfalls with Oscar, US$25
-- Drive around San Jose and stop by Grecia, the famous metal church
Dinner in Atenas

Day Two:
9:30am flight to Golfito via Sansa Air
-- Cab from the Golfito airport to Coconut Restaurant in Golfito
-- Meet Macho; speed boat ride to Playa Zancudo
Check in Cabinas Los Cocos and meet owners, Susan and Andrew
-- Our Rancho Cabin is beautiful complete with kitchen, bathroom, loft, a hammock and a few yards away from the water, $US55/night
-- Sunbathe and swim all afternoon
-- Eat around the village
-- It rains for the next 26 hours in biblical proportions!

Day Three:
-- We cancel our rainforest hike across the Peninsula de Osa
-- We play Scrabble, we drink wine, we smoke up, we read our books and we take endless naps -- we are bored and antsy
-- We buy some vegetables from down the street and cook chicken stew and rice for dinner
-- The rain lets up late in the afternoon and we swim while the local Tico surfers catch the fierce waves
Susan takes us around Rio Coto River and we are amazed at the different birds we see

Day Four:
Andrew takes us in his boat across the Peninsula de Osa to do a short rainforest hike and to try and make up for the long rainy day
We catch our Cessna back in Golfito and fly back to San Jose
-- Oscar picks us up again and drives us to the mall to eat and buy last-minute groceries that will serve as travel gifts for friends
-- We are in a long line in SJO and manage to get the last two seats back to New York City
