Puerto Princesa, Palawan
We flew to Palawan after Christmas. A family friend told us to call some people up who will take us around. The family friend turned out to be the sister of Puerto Princesa's mayor. Their father was Palawan's governor until his death in 2000.
At the airport, we were picked up by the supervisor of the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park in Sabang, a province of Palawan that is currently being funded by the government as a conservatory to preserve natural resources. He was with his two bodyguards and an SUV. We knew we were in for a different experience.
